Journey to the Heart of the Peruvian Mountains

A transformational trek of embodiment, clarity, and connection

September 19–27, 2025

A hiker standing on a large rock formation in a mountainous landscape with snow-capped peaks, a turquoise lake, and a partly cloudy sky.

“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un- becoming everything that isn’t really you.”

— Paulo Coelho

Welcome to the Journey

At the heart of this retreat is a simple yet powerful vision:

To offer you space—not just in the vastness of the mountains, but within yourself.
To walk not only through the breathtaking Huayhuash range, but through the terrain of emotion, intention, and embodied presence.

This is a retreat for those ready to move with meaning—to feel awe again, to digest what’s behind, and to touch the edges of what’s next.

Person lying on a rock in front of a large snow-capped mountain with a partly cloudy sky.

What makes this retreat unique is that it’s an authentic offering from my heart — shaped by personal experience, love, and a desire to hold space for meaningful transformation

Set in the breathtaking landscapes of Huaraz, this 7-day trek leads you through sacred mountains on a journey of self-discovery.

A rare fusion of trekking, yoga, and somatic work, designed to awaken both body and mind.

Guided by a facilitator deeply committed to the transformative power of embodied experience.

Intentionally crafted programming that balances movement, stillness, and introspection.

We’ll explore:

  • How to be with the sensations of difficult emotions—without shutting down

  • How to reconnect to awe, joy, and lightness in your body

  • How to anchor change somatically, so it lasts well beyond the retreat

A mountainous landscape featuring a turquoise lake, rocky terrain, and two hikers walking along the trail on a cloudy day.

This journey is designed for those who are:

  • Comfortable with moderate physical activity (daily trekking)

  • In love with (or longing for) the outdoors and adventure

  • Emotionally ready to explore inner landscapes as much as outer ones

  • Looking to make space, slow down, and re-center

  • Wanting to process an experience—to move it through the body, not just the mind

If you're seeking deep presence, connection, and a sense of spiritual and emotional clarity, you’re in the right place.

Why Adventure With Me?

I’ve had an adventurous heart for as long as I can remember—drawn to the unknown, to the wildness of nature, and to the depths of inner work.

Over the past two decades, I’ve been walking my own path of transformation—one shaped by movement, ritual, heartbreak, and healing. I’ve danced with communities around the world, grieved in sacred solitude, and wandered through the epic terrain of the Peruvian Andes, allowing the land itself to become a teacher.

My teaching is rooted in experience and study. I’ve guided students through transformative yoga teacher trainings across continents and facilitated embodied experiences for people of all walks of life.

My studies span yoga, breathwork, and the nervous system—drawing from traditions as well as modern methods like Somatic Experiencing®.

What I offer is a container for remembering. A space to move, to be still, to feel awe, to laugh, and to reconnect with what matters.

If your heart is tugging toward this kind of adventure, I’d be honoured to walk beside you.

Cordillera Huayhuash

Sacred Peaks. Solitude.

The Cordillera Huayhuash isn’t just a trek — it’s a pilgrimage through some of the most exquisite, remote, and emotionally stirring landscapes on Earth.

Spanning over 80 miles and crossing nine high-altitude passes (between 14,000–16,700 feet), the Huayhuash Circuit is considered one of the most breathtaking and challenging trekking routes in the world — and still one of its best-kept secrets.

Raw, Untamed Beauty
Jagged peaks, glacial lakes, and open ridgelines stretch as far as the eye can see. The scenery is stunning beyond words, touching something primal in those who walk it.

Remote & Challenging
This is a trek that invites true presence and commitment. The terrain is wild, the climbs are steep, and the rewards are deeply felt in both body and spirit.

High-Altitude Awe
Much of the trek is above the treeline, with surreal landscapes and dramatic weather shifts. The altitude shapes the experience into something otherworldly and elemental.

A Legendary Landscape
The Huayhuash range was thrust into international fame by Joe Simpson’s survival story, Touching the Void, set on the mountain Siula Grande. Today, it’s a pilgrimage site for mountaineers, yet still holds its quiet mystery.

Still Unspoiled by Crowds
Unlike the more famous Inca Trail or Nepal’s trekking routes, Huayhuash remains uncrowded and sacred. This solitude allows for a deeply personal and transformative journey.

A Personal Note …

The past two years have been deeply transformative.
After coming out of a long-term relationship, I felt disconnected—
from my sense of self, my courage, my center.

As I took a deep dive into my inner terrain through therapy,
the mountains offered another kind of healing—
a sacred place where I could begin to shift my stories,
finding compassion for the hardened places within.

Trekking became medicine for body and soul—
releasing tension, grounding my restless mind,
and guiding me back to the resilience and authenticity
that had always lived beneath the surface.

PAST RETREATS

Journey into the Peruvian Mountains

September 27th- October 4th, 2024

Mountain landscape with rugged peaks and lush green forested slopes.

The Wilderness Effect

It takes about three days for our nervous systems to reset from the constant stimulation and stress of modern living. During this period, we begin to notice the frenetic pace we have been accustomed to and the toll it takes on our well-being.

Nature Wander

During times of transition & renewal nature wandering offers benefits to our system:

Creates space for quiet and inner wisdom

In our regular lives, we often rush around, making it difficult to create space to listen and attend to whats present inside.  Nature provides a serene environment where we can tune in without distractions.

Reorients us back to ourselves

Daily life often pulls us in many directions, catering to others' needs. In nature, we can focus on our own well-being.

Connects us with awe and expansiveness

Nature reminds us of something larger than ourselves. It helps shift our perspective from narrow, small thinking to a more expansive, open mindset.

Builds a sense of accomplishment

Enduring a challenging experience in nature instills a sense of achievement. We can anchor this feeling of endurance and accomplishment within our body, reinforcing our resilience.

A hiker in black clothing and a red hat ascending a steep, rocky mountain trail surrounded by green mountains and cloudy sky.

Choquequirao, Peru, is renowned as the Jewel of the Andes, standing as one of the most extraordinary Inca settlements in history.

A lush green mountain landscape with ancient stone ruins and terraces, set against rolling green mountains and cloudy skies.

The Choquequirao trek is an epic 4-day off-the-beaten-path adventure to the sister city of Machu Picchu. It’s perfect for those seeking a truly unique and serene experience.

Choquequirao sits above the Apurimac Valley, where you’ll be stunned by the breathtaking surroundings and the potential sight of condors soaring through the sky.

The ancient city of Choquequirao was built in the same era as Machu Picchu, in the Vilcabamba Valley. Also known as the "Cradle of Gold," this site was a bustling center for agricultural activities and the valley's primary source of coca.

Our group will warmly stay at small guest houses along our route, getting a view of local life and experiencing traditional Peruvian food.

Retreat in the Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is a remarkable landscape, where the Urumbamba river flows between the huge Andean mountains. Its home to vibrant traditional communities, and many legendary archaeological sites.

It’s where the journey begins! We will spend three blissful nights at Munay Sonqo a nature-inspired yoga & transformational retreat centre.

You will have space to land, connect, move and take in the awe of the valley. Through daily yoga sessions, mindful movement, meditation and breath-work. All skillfully arranged to ground you into the present moment and strengthen your body & breath for trek ahead.

3 daily delicious meals will be prepared by Peruvian chefs, savouring the flavours of local cuisine.

Together we will participate in a sacred sweat lodge ceremony lead by an an Andean guide, to cleanse the body, purify the soul, and restore balance to the individual and the community.

You will have time to relax at the local spa or venture to the nearby waterfall.

Choquequirao: Peru's Andean Jewel

Choquequirao, translates as the "Cradle of Gold" in the native Quechua language, carries a profound historical significance. In its final years, this sacred site served as the primary defence point for the Incas as they strategically retreated from strongholds in Cusco and the Sacred Valley, fiercely resisting the encroaching Spanish conquest.

Why Choquequirao over Machu Pichu?

  • Choquequirao requires a two-day hike to access, making it remote and ensures for an intimate experience compared to Machu Picchu

  • It is much bigger and higher than Machu Picchu

  • From the main lookout, it gives sweeping views down the river and distant glacier peaks

  • There is no sound or light pollution, making the experience much more tranquil and the connection to the mountains deeply profound

Student Testimonials

  • - Katelyn P

I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and I have never met a teacher who is as knowledgeable and dedicated as Karolina. I firmly believe that everyone needs to have a Karolina in their yoga journey. Besides her yoga teachings, I felt like I could be vulnerable with her, seeing her as both a mentor and a friend. She truly is a strong, kind, and beautiful soul and I can't emphasize enough the value she brings to each and every practice. Any student or teacher would be lucky to have her in their studio or yoga teacher training. I know she was meant to do what she does and I will always remember the incredible impact she had on me and my yoga journey.

  • - Carly

Karolina is unlike any yoga teacher I've ever met and a main reason why is that she's unapologetically herself. She's taken her passion for yoga, her personal experience facing various injuries, and her independent research trying to understand those injuries, to formulate an intentional practice for all bodies and levels. I always left class feeling inspired by Karolina's set-apart approach and physical and mental toughness. She's gentle, yet determined; fierce, yet kind.

    I could go on.

  • - Allison T

Throughout the training, Karolina’s emphasis on mindfulness and anatomical movement helped me become more aware of both my physical and mental bodies. She encouraged us to explore our inner selves, fostering a sense of connection that transcended the physical practice. Her guidance has not only prepared me to become a confident and knowledgeable yoga teacher but also transformed my personal practice. I am forever grateful for her wisdom, light-heartedness, kindness, and dedication.
